With more than 20 Varsity teams, St. Joseph's Prep athletic facilities far surpass our campus location on 17th & Girard.
Our hockey teams have home ice advantage at Penn's Class of 1923 Rink and the Skatium in Havertown. Cross Country uses the historic Belmont Plateau for weekday home meets and other locations in the expansive Fairmount Park are home to many of our squads including Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Mountain Biking, and Rugby.
Prep Crew practices and competes a few miles away from school on the banks of the Schuylkill River in the beautiful Robert M. Gillin, Jr. Boathouse dedicated in 2002. Located near the Strawberry Mansion Bridge at the 1,000-meter mark of the famed Schuylkill River race course, Prep rowers are able to cheer for their teammates as they cross the finish line near the historic grandstand.
The Gillin Boathouse, home of the Prep’s historic rowing program, houses four heated boat bays and ample space for winter training. The Boathouse is home to the Rev. J. Vincent Taggart, S.J. Rowing Center named for longtime moderator of Prep Crew. St. Joseph's Prep is the only high school in Philadelphia with its own Boathouse. Go Prep!
